This is a guided meditation to be used in conjunction with learning the skills of Real Dialogue.
Human subjectivity is complex and individual. There are six domains of our subjective life that affect how we hear, see and feel things:
HEARING IN (our own internal talk)
HEARING OUT (the sounds of the world and the talk of others)
SEEING IN (images in our own mind’s eye)
SEEING OUT (the visual field around us)
FEELING IN (the emotional centers of our bodies)
FEELING OUT (our physical body and its surroundings)
We are each enclosed in our own “snow globe of subjectivity,” leading us to experiences that are unique and not easily translated into another’s experiences. This is why we need the skills of mindful dialogue and to recognize the GAP between us when we try to talk about our differences, and when we want to be heard, seen, and felt by someone else.
